Title: Neurobiology and Acute Treatment Outcomes of Late Life Depression
Principal Investigator: Dr. David Steffens
Description: This study seeks to further the scientific understanding of the complex relationships among depression, neuroticism, persistent depression and cognitive impairment. An aim is to identify older depressed adults who are at risk for negative outcomes by studying older adults, assessing their level of neuroticism and cognitive performance, their response to treatment and their cognitive outcomes over time. This group over time will be compared to a group of non-depressed older adults.

Eligibility Criteria: Men and women 60 years old or older who are experience anxiety, have a tendency towards anger or frustration, feel stressed, and feel self-conscious. -- And -- Men and women 60 years old or older who are experiencing symptoms of depression that include: -- Feeling sad or blue -- Loss of interests in activities, people, or things you once enjoyed
