Hydroxyurea Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Adults with Sickle Cell Anemia
Clinical Trial ( IRB ) #: 24-193-1
Title: Hydroxyurea Pharmacokinetics and Pharmacodynamics in Adults with Sickle Cell Anemia
Principal Investigator: Dr. Biree Andemariam
Description: The purpose of this research study is to analyze and more completely understand the pharmacokinetics (PK) and pharmacodynamics (PD) of hydroxyurea for adults with sickle cell anemia (SCA). We hope that results from this study will individualize hydroxyurea treatment decisions, requiring less dose titration and resulting in more robust HbF response without hematologic toxicities. This improved response will ideally diminish the perceived inadequacy of hydroxyurea therapy and result in improved medication adherence and more widespread hydroxyurea use in the adult SCA population.
