Genetic Versus Phenotypic Markers of Relapse Risk
Clinical Trial ( IRB ) #: 05-239-2
Title: Genetic Versus Phenotypic Markers of Relapse Risk
Principal Investigator: Dr. Lance Bauer
Description: The project will evaluate specific candidate genes, noninvasive (harmless) measures of brain function, and antisocial personality as potential predictors of the return to substance use by patients living within residential substance abuse treatment programs. A comparison group of individuals with no history of substance abuse will also be evaluated. Patients will be evaluated within 4 weeks after they enter the treatment facility. Patients will then be followed over the next 4 months to determine which patients have returned to substance use and which have maintained abstinence.
